July 6th, 2010 SaskTel announced that it will be launching the first phase of its new 3G+ wireless network. Beginning with a technical trial that will take place for 6 weeks, with commercial availability expected for August 16, 2010.
What a 3G+ network means for Sasktel customers is faster network speeds, a enhanced selection of devices, improved roaming capabilities, download speeds (up to 21 megabits per second), as well as more applications and content. Having this next generation wireless network also means that Sasktel 3G+ users benefit from compatibility with approximately 80% of all networks across the world.
On August 16, 2010 the network will be commercially available to customers in Regina, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, Weyburn, Yorkton, Swift Current, Prince Albert, North Battleford and most of the connecting highways. The full 3G+ network is scheduled to be deployed province-wide by the end of 2010.
