What is a "Shredathon"?
I'm not sure, I actually made up the word to convey an event where you can bring your old files from home and shred them safe and secure.

Last week in real estate was another steady week. Friday was a highlight on the financing front when it was annouced by mortgage brokers the 5 year rate was available at 3.99%.

March continues to roll along following the increase in volume that occurred in February.
Weekly Numbers:
We noticed a slow down in the number of listings coming on. This is a positive sign for sellers already on the market, they enjoy the decrease in competition. This is not a trend yet we shall continue to monitor the weekly movement as well as monthly.

Good. Sales were down from record 2007 sales volume, but well above 2006 numbers.Here at Century 21 Advantage, we led the way with listings sold in Red Deer. Today the Bank of Canada announced yet another decrease in interest rates. A significant cut from 3.5% to 3.0%. The last time the Bank of Canada dropped rates by 1% in the same short time frame (6 weeks) was back in 2001. More of the same? Kind of, yes.December was a slow month in comparison to the other months in 2007. Sales of single family homes totaled 62 and in January we saw a modest increase up to 69 single family homes sold. Not a large numbers jump but still a 11.29% increase in sales.
