This weekend The canadian University College in Lacombe (CUC) hosted the Lacombe Freedom 5000 fun run.
Freedom Run 5000, a student-founded initiative, will impact the future of Afghanistan by educating Afghan women.
"We plan to build 100 classrooms, each one enabling thousands of women over the years to receive an education. And the legacy will continue as these women educate others.
Because it costs only $5000 to build a classroom, if 5000 people donate $100 each, 100 classrooms will be built—and donors can impact thousands."
A little over 200 participants descended on the CUC, ran or walked while raising over $24,000! These fine students, racers and volunteers are truly helping to build a better world.
"Established in 1907, CUC has a rich history and tradition with thousands of alumni worldwide. With our smaller class sizes students not only learn but build relationships with their professors. We encourage students to not only THINK, but BELIEVE, and ACT. At CUC we believe in the complete university college experience. Students are provided an environment where academic, physical, and spiritual growth is encouraged."
Glad I was able to participate.
