The numbers are in and we've been reviewing the 2008 Red Deer real estate market quite a bit here at Century 21 Advantage.
Quite a journey it has been with highs and lows in financial markets, and changes to price frequently. There were a lot of sales in the City of Red Deer. The graphs below are compiled form MLS data provided by the Central Alberta Realtors Association.

Happy New Year!
2008 was quite a journey in real estate which I will reflect upon on another post. Right now we'll look at the last few weeks of real estate activity in the Red Deer Market.
Typically December slows down each year as home owners and real estate agents wind down and make plans for time with family and friends. A number of home owners dread the idea of having to be show ...

The drama in Ottawa continues, and bail outs in the US still making headlines, how does that affect us here? Is there still money available and is the sky falling? Yes there is money available, and no the sky is not falling. Recently i had an oppotunity to ask some of our colleagues in the mortgage industry, what the heck is going on. Oil and Gas is the main economic driver for the province. Oil prices have declined from a peak of US$147 per barrel in July to a low of US$56 in November. Things were looking quite rosey when oil was at the $140/barrel number, then as ...

Thank You to everyone that took part in our "Spooky House" contest.
It's always fun to see the various creations for Halloween. Some fantastic work by many individuals, and I'm sure that the creations are even better in person. It was a close decision but the votes were cast this morning and the winner of the 1,000 Air Miles Century 21 Advantage Spooky House Contest is: 2 Denison for ...

This year was a great year for Trick or Treating. The weather was fantastic, this was the first year I heard of kids complaining they were "HOT" in their costumes.

Weekly look at the numbers here in Red Deer, and this week is different than last week. Ok maybe not that different but there are some differences. The changes are in the reported sales numbers. The last two weeks saw an increase in new listings with 82 and 83 properties listed, up from the weekly trend of 64. Sales dropped sharply from the previous week (37 to 24).
