The community gathered at a FREE breakfast this morning. Yes FREE. On a regular basis Penhold hosts a community breakfast forum. The intent is to engage the community in an active discussion in setting the direction for the community. How often do you get asked for your input in shaping your community rather than seeing it form by default?
Continental breakfast was put on by the Town of Penhold Neighborhood Place, with sponsors such as Starbucks, and Sobeys. Muffins, bagels, croissants, fruit, juices and coffee were available to all that attended the event at 9:00 Saturday morning. This time they also had door prizes.
Besides from giving away an award for people being friendly and neighborly the Town was also seeking some input and direction on recreation and events to help make their community a healthy one. The Penhold Memorial Hall was filled with 81 residents eager to share, and congratulate, not to mention enjoy a delicious breakfast for free. This input and direction is also part pf th epath towards the Penhold Multiplex.
This is one small example why small towns are a great place to live. With just a short commute to larger centers residents can make an impact and be part of a community.
Congratulations to the winners. Both were very deserving and humble preferring not to have their name published in favour of anonymoty because they do what they out of their heart not for recognition. Both were emotional in their acceptance of the award and it was a real pleasure to see.
Penhold a fine place to call home!
