It's official winter has arrived today in Red Deer and Central Alberta. We drive a little slower, walk a little brisker, and hibernate a bit more when the thermometer drops and the snow flies but it's still pretty awesome around here. We may tend to forget about the joys of winter as we shovel the walks, scrape the windshields, and slip and slide but winter becomes a new showcase to enjoy.
Tonight is no exception. Cold snowy night in Springbrook afforded Katie this opportunity to capture a scene in her community.
Springbrook is located south of Red Deer approx 8-10 km south on highway 2A. Access is always quite good as it is a transit route and the access to the Red Deer Regional Airport. Those are priorities for road clearing that you may or may not know of or take for granted. A perk for those residents.
It is also one of those communities that sprang to life from a closure of a Canadian Armed Forces Base (CFB Penhold). It boasts some great character in the style of housing and has attracted many young families raising their kids in a quiet small town atmosphere.
Enjoy the change of seasons, I hope you got your Christmas lights up last week.
