Community Involvement: Helping parents connect with their newborns

Through a generous $250,000 multi-year pledge to the Rouge Valley Health System, the agents at Century 21 Leading Edge are helping to fund four Care-by-Parents Suites, at the new Birthing and Newborn Centre of the Centenary Hospital site.

These suites, built near the new Advanced Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), give parents the chance to be near their premature or sick infants in those often-critical days following their birth. Many babies are admitted to the NICU for extended periods of time. The private suites, named after Century 21 Leading Edge, are designed to help parents learn to care for their tiny new arrivals, who might require special care once they go home.

The new Birthing and Newborn Centre at the Rouge Valley Centenary Hospital is a state-of-the-art facility, providing the aforementioned Advanced Level NICU; 16 Labour, Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum (LDRP) rooms, a relaxing family room, and two overnight hostel rooms, in addition to the four Care-by-Parents suites.  The LDRP rooms are, according to Rouge Valley Health System’s website, “like a well-furnished bedroom,” with comfortable furnishings (for overnight stays), hardwood floors, soft lighting, and private washrooms - each with a whirlpool tub as an “alternate form of pain-management.”

Century 21 Leading Edge is proud to be a part of the new Birthing and Newborn Centre at Rouge Valley Centenary, which offers a family-oriented birthing experience, and the highest standards of care for both mother and child.
