Welcome to my Website

Welcome to my website which I update regularily.  I have been selling property in Metro Moncton for over 17 years and I work with residential, commercial and investment properties.  If you need honest, well researched information please contact me.  Also, check out my blog and photo gallery to find out more about this area. Follow me on facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn as well.

I also have businesses for sale, which, because of our strict privacy policy, are not on this site here in any great detail.  If you have an interest in buying or selling a business contact me anytime.  I would be pleased to speak with you about what type of business you would like and show you the ones we have available.  If you are selling a business consider us first.  Our contact list is extensive both locally and throughout the Century 21 system.  My cell and email are your best bets to reach me in a hurry.

I have watched this area grow for most of my life and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.  The quality of life in our area is second to none. If you are considering a relocation to this area, please give me a call or drop me a note, and I will be happy to share with you why I think this in the best place to live in the best country in the World.

Education

I graduated from Riverview High School in 1977 which I still can't believe was over 30 years ago!  I graduated from UNB in Fredericton in 1982 with my BSc. Eng. in Surveying.

I have taken many, many continuing education courses in the real estate industry, including my managers license,  and I think it is essential to be a "student for life".  It is the only way to keep your skill level at its highest which allows you to be the most effective you can be for your clients.

As a volunteer, I have taken CREA's Leadership 100, 200 and 300 courses.

Mature Moves, Introduction to Commercial Real estate

    Community Involvement

I do volunteer work with our church, community business groups and the Real Estate industry in general.  I coached minor hockey for 12 years and, I was a Cub leader for 7 years.

I was one of three individuals who founded the local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity and I served as President for 9 years.  It was a very rewarding experience and now they have helped more than a dozen families have new homes.

In April 2008 I was named Volunteer of the Year for St. Paul's United Church for my work on their $1.2 million renovation to make the church accessable and more environmentally friendly.  In June of 2009 I was voted into the Riverview Business Hall of Fame for being the co-founder of the RBIC/DRBC 20 years ago.  I have ridden the "Big Bike" for the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation for the past 3 years as well.  In 2009 our group, Leader's With Heart" raised over $28,000.

I think a community is built by its volunteers and the time we spend doing volunteer work is time very well spent.  I benefitted from a number of great coaches when I was growing up and I hope to be half as good at it as some of them were.  I am also a firm believer in taking your kids to their activities, not sending them.

    Specialties

Single family homes have always been my strength.  My father built approximately 2000 homes in his life time and I was involved as a builder as well before becoming a REALTOR.  However, over the past five years I have also become more involved in commercial, investment properties as well as businesses and Country Inns.  I have received training in all these areas and I am comfortable that I can look after your needs regardless of your requirements.

    Professional Background

I am a Professional Engineer(Surveying) and have been in the Real Estate industry for over 17 years. I'm currently a partner in our firm and act as assistant manager.  My training as a Survey Engineer has allowed me to work with developers to create new subdivisions and to be able to advise my residential clients about what is needed to survey their lot.  My experience as an engineer has taught me to treat contracts with great respect and I pride myself on keeping my clients safe at all times.

I grew up in a construction family and ran my own general contracting business prior to becoming a REALTOR. I use this knowledge regularily to assist my clients in deciding what they can do to a house to make it better serve their needs and to help them establish a budget as well.

I have taken many courses through the New Brunswick Real Estate Association's Continuing Education programs and through Century 21.  I feel that when you are working with someone else's largest investment you can never have enough education, and that "life-time learning" should be more than a catchy phrase.  My goal is supply all the information my clients need to make the correct buying or selling decision.

I am currently Chair of the Provincial Standardized Forms committee whose mandate is to rewrite all the real estate forms in the Province to create a single set to be used by all REALTORS(r) in NB.

    Professional Interests

I am a strong believer in volunteering in the community and in helping my profession grow. I currently hold, or have held, the following positions:

President of The Greater Moncton Real Estate Board

Director for the New Brunswick Real Estate Association

Chair of the Provincial Standardized Forms Committee

Member of the Greater Moncton Liason Committee

Former Director and Co-chair of the Greater Moncton Immigration Board

Chair of the Official Board of St. Paul's United Church

President and co-founder of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Moncton

Goaltender Coach for several local hockey clubs over the past 12 years

    Personal Background

I am very happily married to Gail for over 27 years and we have three terrific kids. Our oldest is Owen, 22, who is at UNB studying Psychology.  Next is Fraser, 18, who, by playing Provincial Hockey for many years, has caused me to go to almost every arena in the Maritimes.  He is now at Mount A studying Science.  Our daughter, Emily, 17, was a dancer with the Nationally known Young Company of Danceast Studios.  She is in Grade 12 and has plans to be an elementary school teacher.  Gail and I grew up in Riverview and chose to move back here after University to raise our family.

My wife is an IT Manager at Blue Cross Medavie and we both received our Degrees at UNB in Fredericton.

As a hobby I write children's books. To date I have published one, with a second one due in early 2010.

    Personal Interests

I was first introduced to golf at age 4 by my Dad who was the Pro at Fundy National Park golf course many years ago, and it has been a favorite pass time ever since.  Hockey as been another favorite of mine, first as a player and later as a coach.

As a family, we enjoy hiking and camping and have camped our way all across the country and a big part of the US.  Although the kids have grown and the camping has been replaced with summer jobs, Gail and I still hike as much as we can.  We both love to travel and cruise ships are one of our favorite ways to do it.

I also have a great interest in writing and my first illustrated children's book was published in the spring of 2008.  It is titled "Owen and the Dinosaur" - it is available at Chapters, many independent bookstores and on-line at amazon.com.  I have a second one coming out in the spring of 2010.

Our family has been a supporter of KIVA for a few years and we currently have made 10 micro loans.  We believe that we have been very fortunate to grow up and live in a place like Canada (especially the Maritimes) and so we like to help others in less fortunate circumstances whenever the opportunity arises.
