Welcome to my Metro Moncton Website

Welcome to my website which I update regularly so come back again to see what's new.  I have been selling real estate in Metro Moncton for over 20 years and I work with residential, commercial and investment properties.  If you need honest, well researched information before you purchase or sell any property, please contact me.  I see my job as three - fold: providing you with the information you need to make smart decisions, writing good contracts, and above all, protecting you at every stage of the real estate transaction.

While your here, please check out my blog, homes for sale and photo gallery to find out more about Metro Moncton. Follow me on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn as well.  I use social media as part of my marketing program.   My cell and text or email are your best bets to reach me in a hurry.

I have watched Riverview, Moncton and Dieppe grow for most of my life and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.  The quality of life in our area is second to none and Metro Moncton was recognized as one of the Top 7 Most Intelligent cities in the world. If you are considering a relocation to this area, please give me a call, send me a tweet or text, or drop me an email, and I will be happy to share with you why I think this in the best place to live in the best country in the World.

Marketing your Listing - it takes more than a sign on the lawn

Today's market requires more than just a sign on your front lawn.  It begins with  pricing your property correctly.  This is done by careful market research.  As a full time, full service Real Estate Professional part of my job is to assist you by finding the information you need to make the right decision about the market price of your property or to bid correctly on a property you wish to purchase.

Over 85% of today's buyers begin their search for a new home on-line.  With your written permission, I will put your listing on the largest real estate website in Canada - www.realtor.ca as well as one of the largest real estate company sites www.century21.ca.  You will also show up on our company website and on my personal web site.

I also use social media and video as marketing tools as well. I use, in a variety of ways,  Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Virtual Tours to provide maximum exposure of your property.  I like to blog as well and I use all these tools to promote your property.  I also advertise in the local Real Estate Guide and I distribute flyers in target market areas to let potential buyers know about your home.

Of course, the world's most recognized FOR SALE sign will still be on your front lawn.

I will give you updates, as required,  about the number of people viewing your home on-line and we will use these numbers to tweek your marketing plan as necessary.

I look forward to speaking with you about marketing your property.

Education

I graduated from Riverview High School in 1977 which I still can't believe is 36 years ago!  I graduated from UNB in Fredericton in 1982 with my BSc. Eng. in Surveying.

I have taken many, many continuing education courses in the real estate industry, including getting my managers license,  and I think it is essential to be a "student for life".  It is the only way to keep your skill level at its highest which allows you to be the most effective you can be for your clients.

As a volunteer, I have taken the Canadian Real Estate Association's Leadership 100, 200 and 300 courses.

Community Involvement

I do volunteer work with our church, community business groups and the Real Estate industry in general.  I have coached minor hockey for the past 15 years and, I was a Cub leader for 7 years.

I was one of three individuals who founded the local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity in 1993 and I served as President for 11 years.  It was a very rewarding experience and now they have helped more than a 14 families have new homes.

In April 2008 I was named Volunteer of the Year for St. Paul's United Church for my work on their $1.2 million renovation to make the church fully accessable and more environmentally friendly.  I'm currently the Chair of the Governance Committee with St. Paul's as well.  I also sing in the choir whenever time permits.

In June of 2009 I was voted into the Riverview Business Hall of Fame for being the co-founder of the RBIC/DRBC 20 years ago.  I rode the "Big Bike" for the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation from 2007 to 2010 as well.  In 2007 our group, Leader's With Heart" raised over $28,000.

Here I am with some of the staff at the Riverview location of McDonalds.  I helped them out with McHappy days in 2010 and they have asked me back in 2011 as well.

I think a community is built by its volunteers and the time we spend doing volunteer work is time very well spent.  I benefitted from a number of great coaches when I was growing up and I hope to be half as good at it as some of them were.  I am also a firm believer in taking your kids to their activities, not sending them.

Specialties

Single family homes have always been my strength.  My father built approximately 2000 homes in his life time and I was a General Contractor as well before becoming a REALTOR(r).  However, over the past seven years I have also become more involved in commercial, investment properties as well as businesses and Country Inns.  I have received training in all these areas and I am comfortable that I can look after your needs regardless of your requirements.

I enjoy the challange of finding buyers exactly what they are looking for and I pride myself on my research.  I prefer to work using a Buyers Agency contract whenever possible.

Professional Background

I am a Professional Engineer(Surveying) and have been in the Real Estate industry for over 20 years. I'm currently a partner in our firm and act as assistant manager.  My training as a Survey Engineer has allowed me to work with developers to create new subdivisions and to be able to advise my residential clients about what is needed to survey their lot.  My experience as an engineer has taught me to treat contracts with great respect and I pride myself on keeping my clients safe at all times. I chaired the provincial task force which rewrote all the contracts and forms we use to list and sell property.

I grew up in a construction family and ran my own general contracting business prior to becoming a REALTOR(r). I use this knowledge regularily to assist my clients in deciding what they can do to a house to make it better serve their needs and to help them establish a budget as well.

I have taken many courses through the New Brunswick Real Estate Association's Continuing Education programs and through Century 21.  I feel that when you are working with someone else's largest investment you can never have enough education, and that "life-time learning" should be more than a catchy phrase.  My goal is supply all the information my clients need to make the correct buying or selling decision.

Personal Background

I am very happily married to Gail for over 30 years and we have three terrific kids. Our oldest is Owen, 25,  is at UNB in his second year of Law after graduating in the spring of 2011 with a BA in Psychology.   Next is Fraser, 21, who, by playing Provincial Hockey for many years, caused me to go to almost every arena in the Maritimes.  He is now in his 4th year at Mount A studying Chemistry.  Our daughter, Emily, 20, was a dancer with the Nationally known Young Company of Danceast Studios.  She is at UNB and is in her 3rd year of Business.  Gail and I grew up in Riverview and chose to move back here after University to raise our family.

Gail is an IT Manager at Blue Cross Medavie and we both received our Degrees at UNB in Fredericton.

As a hobby I write children's books. To date I have published two, with more on the way.

Personal Interests

I was first introduced to golf at age 4 by my Dad who worked at Fundy National Park golf course many years ago, and it has been a favorite pass time ever since.  Hockey as been another favorite of mine, first as a player and then as a coach.

As a family, we enjoy hiking and camping and have camped our way all across Canada and a big part of the northern and eastern US.  Although our kids have grown and the camping has been replaced with summer jobs, Gail and I still hike and bike as much as we can.  We recently started geocaching as well.  We both love to travel and cruise ships are one of our favorite ways to do it. Gail loves photography and, together, we are starting to learn more about travel writing.

I have a great interest in writing and my first illustrated children's book was published in the spring of 2008. It is titled "Owen and the Dinosaur" and it is available at many independent bookstores and on-line at amazon.com and Chapters. My second book, " Emily Finds a Dragon" came out in May of 2011 and is available in Chapters and many independent book stores in Atlantic Canada.  It was recently nominated for a Hackmatack Children's Choice Award for the 2012-2013 school year.

Our family has always tried to make a difference.  We have been supporters of KIVA  for a few years and we currently have made 18 micro loans.  We believe that we have been very fortunate to grow up and live in a place like Canada (especially Atlantic Canada) and so we like to help others in less fortunate circumstances whenever the opportunity arises.
