Cold weather, warm hearts

It may have been cold here the past month but Metro Moncton shows that the warmth of a City cannot always be measured in degrees Celsius.

The IWK Miracle Network just completed its third fund raiser in Metro.  it is located at Champlain Mall and hosted by the local radio stations who broadcast all day on location.  The have a number of different fund raisers including people pledging $15 per month to buy a specific piece of needed equipment, or this year they asked you to put your loose change in a canvas bag and be a "change bandit".

Through all the jigs and reels, Metro raised more than last year, which almost seems to be a given with this community.  The final tally was $104,245.09.  Not bad for 2 days.

For those not familiar with the IWK  Hospital, it isn't even in Moncton!  It is the foremost regional children's hospital in the Maritimes.  There is a second children's hospital in NFLD affiliated with Memorial University.  Any of the sick kids from this area goes tothe IWK so many people owe a great debt to them from here as well.

The Heart and Stroke Foundation of NB is holding a Skate for Hear fundraiser at the Moncon Colisium on Sunday the 8th from noon to 4pm. Lots of fun even if you don't skate.  Come on out and support this important group.
