Market flattens a bit in May

Metro Moncton experienced a bit of a flattening of our market in May.  The units sold is still up 12% for the year but May was down 7% over May 2009.  Part of this might have been caused by the new mortgage rules put in place on April 19th by the Federal Finance Minister to cool off the inflated market that we never seem to get in Moncton.  Regardless, the market remains good and sellers are getting reasonable prices.  Our average sale price was up 6.5% to $168,960.  That's nearly $10,000 more than this time last year.  Now, before you go and raise the selling price of your home by $10,000 remember this is the average price.  Not every home in Metro Moncton has gone up this much in value.  Our new construction market is still strong and these sales help to drive up the average price.

Once again the members of the Greater Moncton Real Estate Board will be participating in the Dragon Boat races on Jones Lake.  We have been at the top of the heap for fund raising the past couple of years even if our paddling skills are not.  Part of the money raised here is combined with our very successful Golf Tournament to allow a large donation to the local schools breakfast programs.  Just part of the thousands of dollars and  thousands of hours donated by local REALTORs to help make our community a better place.  Our own Jan and Logan Keirstead and Pam Jefferies are part of the rowing team.

A big "two thumbs way up" to all the members who are paddling, or have donated money and time to help the team participate.
