Metro Moncton Real Estate market stays strong

Contrary to all the doom and gloom hear from the National media, our real estate market remains strong.  At the end of July, year to date listings were up 4%, and the dollar volume was up 8%.  Our number of units sold was off a bit at 5%, but the increased prices kept our volumes good.  This is compared to the 2007 numbers which was a continuation of several years of record volumes.  ...

Realtor Care Dragon Boat Team

The Greater Moncton Real Estate Board's Dragon Boat team showed what they were made of on Saturday by raising the most money ($5500) of any team in the annual competition on Jones Lake.  More importantly, over $90,000 was raised during the day for Charity.  This was the rookie season for our intrepid paddlers who went by the catchy name of the Realtor Care Rowers.  Leading ...

CREA Annual meeting

I spent Tuesday to Thursday in Gatineau for CREA's Annual conference.  Great meetings as always.  One of our guest speakers at the Leadership meetings was Justin Trudeau.  Very impressive speaker and really knows his stuff.  he has retired from teaching and has moved back to Montreal to run for the Liberals in the next election.  I suspect he will be Prime Minister in less ...

Subprime Mortgages and the Problems South of the Border and other stuff

One of the concerns we have in the Real Estate Industry is that people in our area will listen to all the doom and gloom in the news about subprime mortgages and become concerned about out economy here at home and then stop doing what they have been doing for the last decade. (Really long sentence!)  Anyway, there is nothing to fear here in the Hub of the Maritimes.  We are generally doing ...

Metro Moncton comes through again!!!

The citizens of the Metro Moncton area came through again with big support for the IWK Telethon.  It was held at Champlain Mall and was promoted as a joint effort through two local radio stations - C103 and XL 96.  A little over $70,000 was raised in just two days, and we were pleased to match our last year's contribution of $360.00.  The staff of Century 21 Countryside has, over the ...

CMHC Breakfast in Moncton, Feb 26th , 2008

I attended the annual CMHC breakfast in late February.  I always enjoy these since it gives you some really good stats about how the area is doing.  You also get a good idea of vacancy rates, new construction starts and so on.  I find by going to these type of events and doing some reading I can keep up on trends that help out my clients.  Here are some of the more interesting ...

Catriona LeMay Doan speaks at C21 Annual Meeting

Last Wednesday the Atlantic Brokers and their sales associates gathered in Halifax for our annual meeting.  As always Century 21 put on a great function with three very good guest speakers.  However, the highlight for me was Catriona LeMay Doan, one of our very successful Olympic Speed Skaters.  She is now retired and she spoke about her Olympic experiences and the value of goal setting ...
