Seriously, there is a website dedicated to just this topic...since I found it a little entertaining and reminiscent of my own childhood - back before computers, WII, DS, and Cable TV - I thought I'd drop a line on here to remind people of how to actually play outside.
Okay, they talk about golf, jump rode, marbles, hop scotch, tree climbing, washers, games with balls, frisbee, horse shoes, and playing in the woods. All sound very fun and very 1970/80s - but hey - that's when we didn't have the problems with child obesity and nintendo finger release.
Now I do have a problem with their last recommendation - take the DS or PSP and go outside with it - WHAT's the POINT - leave the DS/PSP inside and actually use the great outside to entertain you!
We do have a new invention that really wasn't used in the 70/80s called SUNSCREEN - so remember to apply frequently - there is NO POINT to burning and causing skin damage!
The other advantage of playing outside - an ACTIVE and healthier lifestyle! For years, doctors have been warning against sedentary lifestyles - BBC News stated, "Young people now face heart problems, diabetes and other diseases because of their sedentary lifestyles."
Okay - so how does this relate to my job as Realtor? Pretty simply, as a realtor we have the job to determine what our clients need. If they have children, they will likely need to have a large safe yard or a playground nearby. It is our jobs to analysis what they need, find out what is important to them and then match their needs to their new homes!! As an Occupational Therapist, my role in matching the clients needs/wants to their new homes drive my role. I call it finding the needle in the haystack to find the right match for my clients.
LET'S GET OUT THERE AND GET ACTIVE!!
