On October 16, 2011, 11 participants from Leblanc Taekwon-do Dojang travelled to Toronto for the ICTF World Cup Championship. Leblanc Taekwon-do has 3 schools, Tantallon, Halifax and Chester. 4 other schools from Nova Scotia, (Carr, Blue, Fall River, and Muise) also sent participants for a total of 40 hopeful participants representing Nova Scotia. There were schools there from Nepal, Pakistan, United Kingdom, Dominican Republic, and across Canada. In total, there were over 500 participants for this world championship.
Some of the NS Participants!
My son, Michael Upshall was one of the participants representing Nova Scotia. At only 8 years and just 52 pounds, he was the youngest and lightest (lol) representative from Leblanc Taekwon-do and Nova Scotia. He has been training for two years and is now the proud holder of a green belt with his blue stripe just around the corner.
Michael Upshall excited for a medal!!
All students went to Toronto with one goal - perform their absolute best and hope to medal! Yes of course, their eyes were on GOLD!! As a spectator and a mom, I have to say that I was amazed at the precision, technique, sportsmanship and placings from our team. Our results, 18 medals out of a possible 22 was a direct result of the dedication and leadership exhibited by Mr. Rob Leblanc, 3rd Dan.
