Sustainable “farmscrapers” proposed in heavily-populated China

They may look like something out of a Dr. Seuss book, but these “farmscrapers” are part of architect Vincent Callebaut’s vision for a sustainable future.

The skipping stone-like towers would include housing, offices, and leisure spaces, as well as urban farming to reduce the need for imported food. Solar panels and wind farms would ensure the structures produce more energy than they consume.

The unlikely proposal is one Callebaut created for China’s Shenzhen region.
