That's what's in store in Ajax during the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games. The Town will host all the baseball and softball games during the event, including women's baseball, as it makes its first appearance in the games, and men's softball, returning to the Pan Am Games for the first time since 2003.
During a chilly conferance Wednesday morning, officials noted the Sportsplex, at Taunton and Audley roads, will undergo $9 million in upgrades and improvements, including building a new diamond for baseball.
Atheletes from 41 countries will be taking part in the games and about 175,000 spectators are expected to watch beseball and softball games. The Pan Am Games will run from July 10 to 26.
The federal government will cover $5 million of the cost to refurbish the Sportsplex, with Ajax playing the remaining $4 million. The Town's money will come out of revenue the municipality receives for having the casino slots.
