The saying “love what you do and you will never work a day in your life” holds a lot of truth for Peter Kaliszek who considers being a real estate agent more than just his profession but also his passion.

“I have been fortunate to try various trades over the years but they were not fulfilling for me,”Peter says.“After my wife and I bought our first home, I developed an interest in real estate. I followed market activities and observed trends in the industry. I really wanted to do something for a living that I would get up in the morning and be excited about.”

An opportunity to explore a new venture soon presented itself when the company Peter was employed by shut down its Canadian branch and moved operations to the United States. He took it as the perfect opportunity to launch a new career in real estate and went about interviewing brokerages. He chose to join the highly regarded Canadian firm, Century 21 Heritage Group Ltd., and is based out of the Newmarket location.

C21 Heritage has been operating for more than 20 years and has area offices reaching from Thornhill to Bradford.

Born and raised in Europe, Peter remembers that as a young boy he dreamed of one day immigrating to Canada, an aspiration that became a reality in 1988. Before moving to Canada, he spent a year living and working in Italy, inspired by his avid interest in ancient Roman history and culture.

“The time I spent in Italy was one of the highlights of my life. I was able to visit ancient ruins I had read about and studied in my youth. I also worked for a construction firm and an authentic Italian restaurant (Ristorante Mangrovia) which still operates today in the same location,”he says.

Upon his arrival in Canada, Peter settled briefly in Stouffville, working full-time and taking ESL courses in the evening. While living in Richmond Hill, he met his future wife Elena, a Cardiac Technologist and fellow Canadian immigrant. When the couple purchased a townhouse, Peter’s interest in real estate began. As the family – including children Alex and Anna outgrew their space, Peter and his family made the move to a larger home in Newmarket.

“We love living in Newmarket. It is far enough from the busy city, but close enough for a commute to work or weekend fun,” he says. “Newmarket has something for every-one – industry, shopping, restaurants, entertainment venues, sports and leisure facilities and beautiful green spaces including parks, bicycle trails and forests. It is the perfect community to buy a home and not just live, but live well.”

This objective of living well transcends into all aspects of Peter’s life including his real estate endeavours. He believes there is much more to consider when looking for a home than square footage and the latest features and upgrades. It is about having a place of your own to care for and take pride in for many years. Something that makes you feel good about yourself and gives you a feeling of accomplishment.

In an industry often based on "just getting the listing", Petter feels it is crucial to take time to develop time between the Realtor and Client before deciding to work together. Buying or selling a home is one of the biggest decisions you will ever make and the experience should be handled with someone you feel a connection with.

“I offer personalized service, catering to the individual needs and wants of each client. Every real estate transaction is unique and there are always challenges during the process of buying and selling. "My job is to make the transition as smooth as possible with minimum disruption to the clients’ daily routine,” says Peter, who specializes in residential real estate.

While many people think it is price that seals a real estate deal, Peter explains that there are terms, conditions and emotions that are equally important and play an integral part in real estate negotiations. It is important that he act as a mediator and buffer when representing his clients’ best interests.

“Since becoming a real estate agent at Century 21, I finally feel like I am in the right place,” Peter says. “I love meeting new people, helping them find the home of their dreams where they will make many happy memories and knowing I played a part in that. I definitely want to be known as ‘the go-to-guy” when buying or selling a home in York Region.

“A real estate transaction is a process and I look forward to guiding you through that exciting journey. I don’t promise it will be easy, but I do promise that it will be worth it,”he says.
