Getting to Know The Village of Sturgeon Point, City of Kawartha Lakes

Looking for something to do on a beautiful day?  I have a solution for you.  Grab a coffee and start the car.  You won't be disappointed.  I sure wasn't the first time I visited the small community of Sturgeon Point over 20 years ago.  A true gem, nestled amongst the beauty of Mother Nature and all she offers to this prestigious community.

The Village of Sturgeon Point was founded in 1899, surrounded by farm land. The amazing area was soon a thriving summer vacation destination, where many memories of what cottage life was all about, were formed each day.  Sturgeon Lake provided beautiful clear waters, and ample fishing.  Not to forget boating opportunities that the Trent Water System provides for for the Sturgeon Point community.  Sturgeon Point property owners appoint an association to ensure that the history and all its character are maintained.  The Sturgeon Point Association is a non-profit Corporation and is governed by internal By-Laws and administered by a Board of Directors.  All on a voluntary basis.  Some of the areas within Sturgeon Point are managed by the Association.  For example, the playgound area, public swimming beach and the government dock area.  Association fees help support the costs of maintaining areas in the community.

This great community also boasts a unique Church, that has been a meeting place since 1915.  It is available to host weddings and baptisms also.

You will also come across the Sturgeon Lake Sailing Club.  This Club is a Jr. Club, teaching the CYA Sailing Program to village and area children.  Learn to Sail and Race Programs run each morning thru July and August.  Personally, I have watched many sailing events hosted by Sturgeon Point Sailing Club, where the open waters of Sturgeon Lake are spotted with full, beautiful white sails.  A sight for sure.

A must see on your visit to this unique Community, is the Sturgeon Point Golf Club, one of the oldest courses in Ontario.  It is located on 76 Golf Links Road, Village of Sturgeon Point.  This is a 9 Hole, Par 36 semi-private course, with a driving range.  Another unique feature of this Community is the docking availability and access to the Links.  Yes, you and your clubs can take a relaxing boat ride and arrive to this destination.  Visit for more information about this very remarkable golf course.

I love this unique community, and it is my plan to make regular visits.  So, please watch my BLOG and I will keep you informed of what's happening.

Thank You.
