Spring Cleaning

Spring Cleaning

The birds are singing even when we see clouds and rain. The rain is turning the grass nice and green so it’s time to think of refreshing our lives and our homes with “Spring Cleaning”. One of the biggest parts of spring cleaning is getting rid of clutter that you don't need. Plan a garage/yard sale. Work regularly at boxing up items you don't need. Find out how to donate items that are taking up space. Take advantage of the natural urge that comes each spring to get rid of items that are weighing you down and begin fresh with a more streamlined lifestyle. While we may have a tendency to hoard and hold on to items in the winter, we generally are more ready to let go of clutter when spring arrives. Cleaning will be a lot easier when the clutter is gone.

Local thrift stores like Value Village or Salvation Army will usually have drop off points where you can take items. Local charities will sometimes even pick up donations, so check around. Specific items like toys might be a great addition at a church, school, or day care. Magazines and books might be of use at a local clinic or doctor's office.

Even if you're not giving it away to charity, just giving your unwanted stuff away to someone else who wants it and will use it is a great option. If it's not worth giving away or selling? Well, you may need to consider putting your "treasure" in the trash or the recycle bin. Let it go, and live happy in your clutter-free home.
