Chinese New Year arrives on February 8, 2016. All around us preparations are starting. This week I saw the red lanterns up in Richmond Centre Shopping Mall and on my last trip to the post office I was able to buy Year of the Monkey domestic stamps which Canada Post released on January 11th -- the international ones will be released on February 1st.
The sudden appearance of all things red made me wonder if there was something that we should be doing to get our homes ready especially since around here everyone likes to be on the market for Chinese New Year when there are more buyers looking to buy.
All of my online research says the same thing: you need a clean home to welcome the new year. Think of it as spring cleaning coming a little early. Cleaning your home from top to bottom will get rid of any bad luck gathered in the previous year! A home that is clean from top to bottom is what every buyer is expecting to find. Clean and organized are often thought to mean well maintained over the years....and well maintained means your home will sell for more money. This is win win for anyone thinking about buying or selling in the weeks leading up to Chinese New Year!
