If you are looking for a get-away near Vancouver, be sure to check the Cowichan Valley. Who would have guessed that there could be so many interesting wineries to visit. There are good B & B's and hotels available. We stayed at the Oceanfront Grand Resort and Spa in Cowichan Valley. The Resort is centrally located to most of the wineries and local shops. It offers one or two bdrm suites with beautiful views of Cowichan Bay. Most of the wineries now grow their own grapes right on Vancouver Island. They all offer wine tasting. Several have restaurants on site or picnic areas where you can bring your own food. There are many berry wines, ciders, and vinegars also being produced in the area.
Some places to visit would be Merridale Ciderworks(great restaurant on site), Averil Creek Vineyard, Blue Grouse Estate Winery, Cherry Point Vineyards, Echo Valley Vineyards, Glenterra Vineyards, Silverside Farm & Winery, Church & State Wines, Godfrey Brownell Vineyards, Venturi-Schultze Vineyards, Vigneti Zanatta & Vinoteca Restaurant.
What a relaxing and refreshing way to spend a few days. Enjoy beautiful views, friendly people and fantastic wine and food.
