Doors Open Richmond Happens this Weekend May 4 & 5th

Think of Doors Open Richmond as a celebration of all the things that make Richmond, BC special...and a free opportunity to take a peek inside over 40 of Richmond's unique cultural and heritage sites. The festival runs May 4 and 5th from 10am - 4pm. To kick off the event (and to help celebrate Asian Heritage Month), there will be an opening celebration on Friday night from 7-9:30pm at 4011 Moncton Street (at No 1 Road in Steveston) at the Steveston Tram Building. This is the opening weekend for the new Steveston Tram Building which is located on the site of the original rail station. For 45 years, the tram ran between between Steveston and Vancouver. The 100-year-old No 1220 interurban tram will be restored in coming years. Doors Open Richmond activities include being able to visit the Steves Family Farmhouse at 2871 Steveston Highway which was built in 1917, the Thrangu Monastery at 8140 No 5 Road which is the first traditional Tibetan monastery in the Pacific Northwest, and the Helijet International Terminal and Hangar at 5911 Airport Road South.
