Doors of Knowledge

Created by United Kingdom artist Patrick Hughes for the 2009 - 2011 Vancouver Biennale, Doors of Knowledge is a painted aluminum sculpture consisting of 24 doors (each 7 ft x 3 ft) that have been bolted together to form a zigzag line in Minoru Park, Richmond BC. Set under the trees in front of the library (and clearly visible as you are driving along Minoru Boulevard between Granville Avenue and Richmond Centre Shopping Mall), the doors become an optical illusion for the viewer to read. What you see depends on where you are standing and the illusion as you are driving by with speed is completely different than a walk around. Check it out ... what will you see?
