Large Corporate Farms Good Indicator

There have been some larger corporate farms running on hard times recently. One Earth Farms has all but ceased their farming practices and now, Broadacre Ag Inc has entered into creditor protection. While economies of scale were to provide them a leg up on efficiency, one thing is clear, making money farming is not an easy thing to do. While some may argue the point of these large farms creating efficiencies, one clearly can not argue that these recent developments are good indicators that all is not rosy as it once was on the farm.

I continue to watch Creighton University's Farmland Price Index, an index created to track U.S. Farmland prices. Octobers value has fallen for the 11th straight month. However, I continue to see no real slow down locally. In fact, there have been new records in several R.M.'s again very recently.

This brings up a lot of questions with regards to what will happen to our land prices going forward...
