Getting Your Home Ready To Sell -> Cleaning Checklist!

In my last post, I discussed how to get your home ready for sale. In this post, I have provided a thorough cleaning checklist. Once these items have been done, it is a lot easier to maintain for future showings. A clean home shows pride of ownership and is a reflection of the sellers. Potential buyers appreciate a clean home and it assists in showing off your homes best features. Please find the list as follows:

 Whole house:

o   Sweep/Mop floors
o   Vacuum and/or shampoo carpets
o   Dust/wipe all baseboards
o   Dust/wipe all light fixtures and switches
o   Organize all closets and try to free up floor space ie. Pile neatly, use storage bins etc
o   Wipe all windows and window sills
o   Clean all walls of smudges, fingerprints, etc
o   Dust/wipe railings (cobwebs tend to formulate here)
o   Wipe all doors and door knobs
o   Clean lamp shades
o   Clean/launder blinds/curtains as necessary
o   Wash vent covers as necessary
o   Dust electronics (tvs, stereos, telephones etc) and tidy wires


o   Dust furniture
o   Wash all bed sheets, duvets/comforters

 Living Room

o   Vacuum couches, under couches and under cushions
o   Dust furniture, mantels etc


o   Wipe all cabinets inside and out
o   Reseal grout if necessary (around sink etc)
o   Remove all stains from toilets, sinks and tubs


o   Wipe inside of refrigerator and discard any old/expired items
o   Organize cupboards and discard any old/expired items
o   Scrub stove and oven
o   Wipe backsplash
o   Clean trash cans


o   Power wash front door
o   Sweep and power wash porches and entry ways
