Moving? Don’t forget to change your mailing address!

Don't forget...to change your address!

Moving can be a time where you have a checklist that seems to never end. An item often overlooked is changing your mailing address. This is very important to remember to ensure you get your mail to your new address and keep your information safe.

It can be very time consuming to contact all of the companies and people that send you mail. If you need some extra time, you can contact Canada Post to register for mail forwarding. You can select to have your mail forwarded from your old address to your new address for either 4 months or 12 months for a fee. You can register online by clicking here or by going into a Canada Post Office.

Please find a list of companies you may need to contact below:

Banks
Credit card companies
Government (license, health card, tax statements etc)
Hydro
Gas
Hot water heater
Cable
Telephone
Internet
Cell phones
Etc

Tip: If you receive someone else’s mail, do not open it. You can write “moved” or “unknown” on the envelope and put it back in the street mailbox to have the mail returned.
