The big Christmas Tree is up on Main St. and local businesses have begun decorating their storefronts. A lot of great community events happening this weekend and you can see how much our community really comes together at Christmas time. The 23rd annual CJRL Miracle Marathon for the Salvation Army, Festival of Trees, and the Santa Claus parade are all happening this weekend.
The Miracle Marathon is at 19 hour radio-a-thon will take place this Friday November 29th 6am-7pm and Saturday 8am-2pm at Image One Designs new location 700 Lakeview Drive. They will be collecting non-perishable food items, new unwrapped toys, clothing and cash donations for the Salvation Army. Make someones Christmas wish come true this Christmas by donating to the Salvation Army.
10th annual Festival of Tree’s is a Charity Fundraiser for the Kenora and Lake of the Woods Regional Community Foundation. This is a 3 day event, taking place at the Lake of the Woods Museum beginning Thursday November 28th- Saturday November 30th. This event is planned and hosted by volunteers and members of the Community Foundation. The tree’s from the event will be up for auction on Friday night with all proceeds going to the Community Foundation. Bring your family out for Family day on Saturday to come check out the 30 live trees that have been decorated by local businesses and organizations. Seniors don’t forget the chance to go preview the tree’s on Thursday at seniors night. Tickets for this event can be purchased at the museum and the Community Foundation office.
The Santa Claus Parade is also happening on Saturday, the parade will start at 5:30 leaving from the Kenora Curling Club and circling through town. Don’t miss your chance to see all the great floats and Santa Claus of course! The theme for this year is Christmas in Cartoonland.
