Saskatoon Neighbourhood Profile: Willowgrove

Why Willowgrove?

There are plenty of places in the city you can find single family homes, townhouses and Saskatoon condos for sale, but none as vibrant andon-the-grow as Willowgrove.  Situated in the northeast area of Saskatoon, Willowgrove is a beautiful neighborhood that harkens back to more community-focused trends in urban development.  It’s a ‘best of both worlds’ situation --- offering the community feel of neighborhoods like Nutana, but with the contemporary look of a modern area.

For a growing family, Willowgrove has education covered; there are great schools in the area.  If you send your little one to elementary school, put their lunch in their backpack and send them off to Forest Grove School or St. Volodymyr School.  If they’re a little older (you know, the age where they don’t want to be seen with Mom and Dad in the mall), you can send them to nearby high schools like St. Joseph High School and Centennial Collegiate.  And of course, the University of Saskatchewan is a short jaunt away for those grown kids taking on adulthood.

On the weekend, there’s so much to do!  You’re a hop, skip, and a jump away from The Forestry Farm Park and Zoo, The Alice Turner Branch of the Library, Northeast Meewasin Trail, and the ice rink at ACT Arena.  There are also tennis courts and a skateboard area at Forest Park, as well as other nearby parks like Ernest Lindner and John Avant (which houses the beautiful Erindale Lake).  And with the proposed North Bridge Roadway, even more of the city will open up like a spring flower.

Even better, the whole neighborhood itself is built around a village square that showcases a system of parks and connects with pedestrian walkways.  It’s an urban village that emphasizes walkable neighborhoods and strong community ties.

Whether you need groceries, frozen yogurt, or you want to shop til’ you drop, Willowgrove is close to many retail centres, like the Erindale Centre, Central Avenue Business District, and Preston Crossing Shopping Centre.  From chains like McDonald’s and Sobeys or Pier One and Future Shop, to more eclectic clothing and furniture stores, you don’t need to venture too far to find what you’re looking for.

A life of family.  A life of leisure.  A life of comfort and community.  It’s all in Willowgrove.
