Living In Durham Region

A few years back Money Sense magazine ranked Whitby as one of the best places to live in Durham Region. Whitby has a strong sense of community with a forward thinking growth plan to meet the needs of their expanding community.

Residents and new buyers looking to move to Whitby will be happy to know that they are living in one of the best communities across the country. Over 190 communities across the country were ranked and rated with five Durham municipalities coming out on top. High rankings in household income and population growth rate, plus the fact that the community is a safe place to live is why so many people have called Whitby home.  The town’s central area showcases beautiful historical and heritage buildings.

Next to Whitby, Oshawa, and Clarington received high marks for being one of the top neighbourhoods to live in. The shores of Lake Ontario are a big draw for this area with more than a dozen waterfront parks spanning over 60 hectares. Oshawa’s downtown is full of amenities with quaint cafes, and The Robert McLaughlin Gallery, the largest public art gallery in Durham.

Brooklin is another lovely historic area north of Whitby filled with interesting shops, as well as several restaurants.

During the summer months residents enjoy more than a dozen golf clubs in the area including Oshawa Golf and Curling Club, Cherry Downs Golf and Country Club, and Watson’s Glen.

There is so much to do in Durham and this holiday season is no exception. Check out the link
