Professional Background
I have recently been recognized for my combined police service of 27 years with the "Toronto Police Service" and the "Royal Canadian Mounted Police" I received the "Police Exemplary Service Medal" from the Governor General of Canada . I was presented with the medal at a cerimony in Newmarket by the Assistant Commisioner of the RC.M.P. Steve White.
I have a varied background and as young man I started my career expecting to become a Registered Industrial Accountant. I discovered that being tied to a desk was not for me. I became an assistant production supervisor and later supervisor for Hallmark Greeting Cards managing the folding and die cutting departments.
At the age of 30 I was hired by the Toronto Metropolitan Police Department as a constable. In almost ten years as a constable I worked in many areas such as General Duty, Foot Patrol, The Youth Bureau, Plain Clothes Investigative unit, Warrant Section and the Traffic Division. Upon leaving the the Toronto Police Department I worked as a private investigator and security person under contract with the Province of Ontario to provide investigative and security services for Ontario Housing Projects such as Regent Park and the Jane/Finch Corridor.
I left the Private Investigation company to resume my career as a police officer with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. My duties included the Executive Diplomatic Protection Service, Toronto Airport, Federal Enforcement Section, Drug Squad, Customs and Excise and on occasion worked on the V.I.P. protection detail for dignitaries such as the G8 Summits in Windsor and Quebec City, Queen Elizabeth, Prime Minister Mulroney, Prime Minister Chretien, Preston Maning and others.
One of my larger projects with the R.C.M.P. as the lead investigator lasted about five years and included other agencies such as the F.B.I., A.T.F., New york State Police, Maryland State Police, U.S. and Canadian Customs. The smuggling of liquor and cigarettes from the U.S. to Canada was the target of the investigation.
In 2003 I retired from the R.C.M.P. and early 2004 began selling real estate in the Orillia, Washago and Gravenhurst area.
Personal Interests
My personal interests are fishing, woodworking and reading.
I really enjoy a an hour, or any time, I can set aside to be on the local rivers and lakes fishing. It is particularly enjoyable when I am able to have my grand children fishing along side of me.
Wood working has been a passion for many years, unfortunately I will probably have to retire (again) to fully enjoy this past time.
I enjoy reading action and history novels, if they are combined into one that is a bonus.
