WOMEN'S CRICKET DEVELOPMENT IN ONTARIO
Another chapter was added to the glorious history of Cricket in Canada when the Women's Cricket Development Programme was launched on Feb 28, 2009 at Astra Sportsplex, 2389 Rutherford Road, Vaughan, ON under the aegis of Ontario Cricket Association (OCA).
Mrs. Rita Jethi chaired first inaugural workshop. Mr. Mike Kendall President of OCA also welcomed Mr. Gulshan Sethi as Director of the Women's Cricket Development programme. The President of OICA Mr. Melvin John organized it.
Coach Mr. Keith & Ms. Monali Patel conducted the workshop and it was very well attended. Some on the spot Cricketig tips were provided by the Coach. Media was in full force and extensively covered the event. Every one who attended the workshop was very enthusiatic and was rearing to go. The response was overwhelming.
Women's Cricket Development Programme is up and running under the Chairmanship of Mrs. Rita jethi. There is a big segment of society with Women Cricketers, which remains untapped, and OCA intends to change that. Once the numbers warrant it, we should have a separte Women's league up and running by year 2010.
