Nova Scotia Experiences Incresed Real Estate Activities

Sydney, NS – The Nova Scotia Association of Realtors (NSAR) is reporting that the majority of Nova Scotia has seen increases in real estate activitythis winter. In a March 2, 2010 Press Release, NSAR says the South Shore and Halifax Dartmouth Regions have seen the largest increase in sales. The number of residential units sold across Nova Scotia through the Multiple Listings Services System (MLS) from November to January was up 27.5% compared to the same period last year.
The average price of a property in the Cape Breton Region was $108,795 up 8.2% and the Highland Region $139,252 up 22.6%. In comparison, the average price of a property in Halifax-Dartmouth is $237,571 up 1.9%.
This falls on the heels of 2009, an interesting year in NS real estate. Over 2008, the average price was 3.9% higher and total units sold were down by 7.7%. For more information and statistics go to www.homeguide.cansrealestatemarket
