Calgary Building Permits Dip In October

CALGARY — The estimated value of building permits in the city dipped in October by 14 per cent from a year ago.

According to City of Calgary data, total building permits for the month had a value of $274.612 million, down from $317.749 million in October 2011.

Residential permits were down 12 per cent from a year ago to $184.859 million and non-residential permits fell by 16 per cent to $89.753 million.

Year-to-date, total building permits have increased by three per cent to $3.899 billion compared with the same period a year ago.

Year-to-date residential permits are up 17 per cent to $2.233 billion while non-residential permits have dropped by 11 per cent to $1.666 billion.
