Thanksgiving
I am sitting here this morning, the Saturday before Thanksgiving, and I am amazed at all we have to be thankful for. We live in a Country that is not torn by the ravages of war, we are wealthy and educated. We have a rich multicultural society complete with a kaleidoscope of religions and we are the envy of so many other countries that there are waiting lists of people waiting to emigrate and call Canada home. We truly are blessed.
I am also keenly aware that Canada has and is still investing heavily in efforts to make/keep peace in several less fortunate cultures, societies and Countries. Is it a co incidence that Thanksgiving and Remembrance Day are separated by one short month. Especially this year as we have lost 132 men and women serving in Afghanistan I would ask that as we sit around the thanksgiving table with friends and family that we offer up a prayer and thanks for not only those that have given their lives but also for those who are serving. Please remember that our ability to be thankful has come at a great cost.
The Department of National Defence has a Website where we can look into the faces of our brave fallen soldiers and I would encourage you and your family to follow the link posted below and honour one of these men or women at your thanks giving table. I intend to set an extra place at out table this year so that my friends and family can experience their thankfulness to an unsung hero. I challenge you to do the same as a precurser to November 11. Thank you for your time and please follow this link.
Please see web site below for a list of all the names, including photos and other relevant information of Canadian Soldiers who died while serving in Afghanistan.
