Say No to Status Quo at City Hall

Below is a great message from The Toronto Real Estate Board. I think we should let the Mayor and the City know how we feel about the Toronto Land Transfer Tax. If you want to voice your opinion go to the website for easy links to say no.

Toronto City Council will soon be making important decisions on how to deal with the City's finances.  Mayor Ford and City Council were elected with a clear mandate to change the way the City operates, including repealing unfair taxes like Toronto's Land Transfer Tax.  Unfortunately, some City Councillors are getting cold feet and would prefer to maintain the status quo. That would mean more taxing and spending and it could mean keeping the unfair Toronto Land Transfer Tax, instead of repealing it as promised by Mayor Ford and numerous Councillors.  That tax costs the average Toronto home buyer a whopping $6,000, up-front, when they buy a home.  Depending on the home, it could cost substantially more.  You can help make sure that City Council moves forward with changing City Hall the way Torontonians elected them to do so.  Tell them to get the City's finances in order and end unfair taxing, including the Toronto Land Transfer Tax.   Tell them that NOW is the time to change City Hall. Say NO TO THE STATUS QUO!  Go to http://www.nohomebuyingtax.com/ for quick and easy options to email Toronto City Council NOW, and a calculator that will allow you to determine what the Toronto Land Transfer Tax costs you.  Don't delay. City Council will be making these decisions soon and need to hear from you NOW.
