The former finance minister, Jim Flaherty, who resigned from politics less than a month ago, passed away on April 10 by a sudden heart attack.A massive state funeral took place at Toronto's downtown St. James Cathedral yesterday.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper paid a moving tribute. He called Jim “the best finance minister in the world”.
As an ordinary Canadian, a home owner and a real estate professional, I highly appreciated the extraordinary job that Jim had done during the global recession in 2008-2009 and the monetary policies that he had brought to us in the past so many years. In my mind, he is truly the best finance minister in the world.
