Harmonized Sales Tax HST

Will the B.C. government harmonize the Federal Sales Tax (GST) 5 % and the Provincial Sales Tax (PST) 7% into one 12 % tax starting July 1st, 2010 ? What effect will this have on the B.C. economy and the Vancouver real estate market ? Other provinces like Ontario are planning to harmonize the 2 taxes as well.
