Chinese New Year

In celebration of Chinese New Year, the City of Markham and the Canadian Chinese Real Estate Brokerage Association (CCREBA) will be hosting a celebration on Saturday, February 1st, from 12pm to 5pm to welcome the Year of the Horse. February 1st is the second day of the Lunar New Year, which in Chinese tradition, marks the start of the New Year. The celebration will be held at the Markham Civic Centre at 101 Town Centre Blvd, near Warden Avenue and Highway 7.

Mayor Frank Scarpitti, city councillors and Consulate General Mr. Fang Li will be in attendance to bestow lucky red envelopes to all guests. There will also be lion dances, cultural dances, kung-fu demonstrations, and singing performances.

All are welcome. The aim of this event is to shine light to an important Chinese event as well as Chinese social activities in an effort to bring cultural understanding among various cultures in the local community. Admission and parking is free.
