Recently released, the Spring 2011 edition of The Conference Board of Canada's Metropolitan Outlook states that four cities in Saskatchewan and Alberta will occupy the top four spots in the economic growth leaderboard. According to The Canadian Real Estate Association, this is double the national rate. In the province, 612 homes changed hands last month compared to 531 in January 2010.
Regina and Saskatoon both had significant increases in sales activity, dollar volume of sales and average price in January compared with the same period last year.

Last week, Finance Minister Jim Flaherty announced changes to the rules of government-backed insured mortgages. These rules were designed to ensure that homeowners don't risk their financial security by buying more than they can afford.
