Flying Pig restaurant to open 3rd location at False Creek

The Flying Pig has committed to opening a third location — about 120 seats, including a patio — in about a year when the Residences at West is completed on West 2nd Avenue between Manitoba and Columbia Streets.

The Flying Pig is another sign Southeast False Creek is becoming a magnet for gastronomic entrepreneurs. The area already has an organic sushi bar, Terra Breads and the Tap & Barrel, which has one of the finest patio views in the city.

The neighbourhood recently welcomed the opening of the massive Craft Beer Market in the historic Salt building, featuring more than 100 varieties on tap.

According to the City of Vancouver, Southeast False Creek will house as many as 13,000 people when it’s finished. The area’s hub is the open plaza, with its distinctive sparrow sculptures, access to businesses and vistas of dragon boaters knifing their way through the water.

Executive Group Development’s director of sales and marketing Craig Anderson has practically lived in the neighbourhood for the past 18 months while promoting the Residences at West. He says the area’s close access to two different SkyTrain lines and the 84 bus line makes it ideal for urban residents.
