Oakville - a Hot Real Estate Market

Oakville – a Hot Real Estate Market

This is good time to purchase a home in the Oakville area.  The real estate market will continue to rise, and here is why: Oakville is getting closer to Toronto, making the morning commute easier for everyone, and it is expanding its health care industry thereby attracting new investments in the area.

With Go Transit every 30 minutes, it seems like Oakville is moving closer and closer to the big metropolis. Improvements in the infrastructure and expansion of Go Transit services make it really easy for Oakville residents to reach places of employment in a much faster way.  The Ontario Government made significant investments in public transit in order to reduce congestion, strengthen the economy and create jobs.  Go trains along the Lakeshore line between Aldershot and Oshawa are now running every 30 minutes, every day of the week.  The Go bus service also has several lines operating frequently and connecting Oakville residents to distant places in a fast and convenient way.  This means that more Oakville residents have alternative ways of getting to Toronto (both to the Union Station, and to North York), to Guelph and to Hamilton.  At the same time, those who stay on the highway experience less traffic and can get there faster too.  For me, this makes Oakville real estate is a hot market as more people will want to live in Oakville, taking advantage of its many perks.

The government has invested $2.7 billion in the new Oakville Hospital; making this the largest infrastructure investment any gov’t has ever made in Oakville.  The construction of the new hospital is progressing on schedule and on budget.  It is 50% complete and will open in December 2015, according to Kevin Flynn, MPP.  At the moment the construction site provides jobs for some 800 workers, with expected increase to 1,200 workers.  When the hospital is completed, it will provide a range of acute care, obstetrical, surgical, emergency, mental health and ambulatory services.  What this means, is that this project already drives the Oakville economy, providing various employment opportunities, and it will continue doing so in the future.  This project makes Oakville real estate market very hot, and will only drive housing prices up as more people will want to live in Oakville.

Another project in the health care industry is about to commence in Oakville.  The ErinoakKids will build a new facility in Oakville, near the new Oakville Hospital.  This organization has been providing services to children with various physical and developmental disabilities, including autism.  This will be the largest redevelopment project in the history of the Ministry of Children and Youth Services, according to Kevin Flynn, MPP.  Again, this project will drive the Oakville economy and its housing market up, making Oakville real estate a hot market.
