Welcome to my Website

My goal is to be your Realtor for life. Someone you can consult with confidence and know that you are getting the best possible unbiased advice. I'm not just interested in making a sale. I'm interested in helping you achieve your goals.

Personal Background

I'm very fortunately married to a Cobourg native Margie Barlow and we have one son Martin who is in banking in Queensland Australia. Marty is married to a wonderful young woman, Alex Mackie, and they are the ecstatic parents of Tylah-Rose.

Before becoming a professional Realtor I worked in land surveying in Ontario, British Columbia and Australia. For many years I managed the Cobourg office of Horton Wallace & Davies O.L.S. and co-ordinated the surveying on most of the major projects in the area. I was fortunate to be involved from day 1 on the redevelopment of the Cobourg Harbour lands by James Hoffman.

I have also built 5 houses in Cobourg and renovated a very dilapidated 1887 frame house with serious structural issues.

At one time I owned and operated a small logging company in the Columbia Valley in Southeastern British Columbia where our son was born.

I believe that my background in surveying, construction and renovation help me to provide valuable advice based on practical experience.

Professional Background

I started working in land surveying in Toronto in January 1969, totally unprepared for working outdoors in winter. I took a number of night school courses before attending Ryerson Polytechnical Institute (as it was called way back then) in the early 70's. I worked for 3 different firms in Toronto before moving to Australia for a year and learning some different and interesting surveying techniques there. Returning to Canada I continued my surveying career in Vancouver, Toronto, Southeastern Ontario, Vancouver again and finally as site engineer/surveyor at Panorama Mountain outside Invermere B.C. during it's development from a small local ski hill to an international destination resort. After that I established my logging company for 5 years and then returned to land surveying in the Cobourg area in 1986.
