When I heard a new Mexican restaurant was opening up in Burlington, I couldn't wait to give it a try. My fear with Mexican restaurants is that the bar is often stocked with Jose Quervo and Corona while the menu consists only of frozen enchiladas and quesadillas. It was a pleasant surprise to experience something completely unique and fresh at Maracaz.
I remember going to Mexico when I was young and one of the greatest memories of the trip was walking down the beach with my Dad and stumbling across a little stall with a few stools selling only tacos and Dos Equis. When on vacation, we always looked for the little dive down the dark alley for good food rather than taking the easy choice of a Senior Frogs or Carlos and Charlies.......mind you, those were not bad choices when you were looking for a little fun after dinner!
Maracaz brought me back to that time on the beach in Cozumel. Simple decor made of broken down skids and decorations that had been picked up along the way. The success lies in its simplicity. You can buy tacos, great tacos, but still....just tacos. You won't find any burrito supremes here. A vast assortment of tacos made with fresh ingredients are your menu options. They have a few select beers on tap and 20 different tequilas behind the bar.
And much like that little stall on the beach, they only accept cash!
I highly recommend giving this place a try if you want a little Mexican escape.
