The bedroom is a place of retreat. A sanctuary from daily life for some, an entertainment centre for others, or a place for snuggle time (with or without the kids). It’s the one room in the house you can politely close the door to any and all intrusions. Perhaps that’s why the bedroom attracts quite a bit of attention when it comes to remodelling. The truth is that attractive bedrooms are major selling points for home buyers.
While everything from the wall colour, to window treatments and closet space are important in a bedroom layout, one debated element is flooring. Because bedrooms are an intimate space, the right flooring needs to be both comfortable and aesthetically appealing.
Here’s a guide to picking the right flooring for your bedroom.

Carpet is still a popular and widely-used choice for bedroom flooring. It's affordable and comfortable, and leaves home owners with a warm, secure feeling. Another great feature about carpet is that it dampens sound. So noise inside the bedroom doesn’t transmit as easily throughout the house—a great feature for those with frequent overnight guests or small children. The biggest downside is that carpet is hard to clean. Frequent vacuuming helps, but dirt and stains are often hard to remove completely, as are unpleasant smells. Also, carpet tends to attract dust and microorganisms, which make it a turn-off for home buyers with allergies or sensitivities.
