Bowring Park

Bowring Park

If you are looking for a family activity that’s always open, free, and sure to delight both children and adults, then Bowring Park should be on your to do list.  The park has 200 acres filled with walking trails, bridges, manicured gardens,  and plenty of attractions for the kids.  On a sunny day my family enjoys playing Frisbee on the bungalow lawn and a picnic under the mature trees.  The kids love feeding the ducks, as do the adults, along the Waterford river and in the gorgeous duck pond on the east side of the park.  On the west side there is a large playground for the children and a public swimming pool for those really hot days.  Of course upon a visit to the park one ultimately comes across a number of statues.  The Caribou is a replica of the Beaumont-Hamel Newfoundland Memorial Park, and The Fighting Newfoundlander is a tribute to the Royal Newfoundland Regiment.   And sure to enchant the children is the Peter Pan statue located close to the duck pond.  Aside from the bigger attractions some of the more scenic views can be found off the beaten path, so if you are the adventurous type don't be afraid to explore and enjoy!
