Since 2002 the Ontario Heritage Trust has been working with communities across Ontario to open the doors to some of our Provinces most fascinating cultural sites. These events are free and are a great way to get out and explore buildings and sites that you otherwise wouldn't have access to. From old to new, Doors Open Ontario features both buildings and natural spaces that are a large part of our communities.
This years theme is medical science and innovation. So many innovations in the medical sciences came about in Ontario and to learn more about them and to see where these innovations were conceived can be turned into a great family outing thanks to Doors Open Ontario. For those in the Halton area this years event days are as such - Burlington on Oct 1. Mississauga (technically not Halton but we're close enough to drive lol) on Oct 1. Halton Region on Oct 1 and 2.
To find maps and more info on all of the sites featured in this years Doors Open Ontario event visit www.doorsopenontario.on.ca. I know that there are definitely a few places I don't want to miss.....one of them being the guided tour of downtown Milton on Sunday at noon and 2pm.
