Festivities for the Grand Prix weekend began Thursday morning in Montreal with fans lining up at dawn to enter the pits and gaze at cars, talk to racing teams, and get autographs from drivers.
"These guys are my heroes. I watch them every Sunday when they're on. It's fabulous and I would stand in line for hours," said one fan.
The meet and greet was cancelled last year because of fears it would be disrupted by student protesters, who did try to interrupt the opening night party on Crescent St. but were rebuffed by police.
