A late-2014 shoring permit application was the first sign that activity is soon to begin at the site of Cityzen Development Group, Diamond Corp and Fernbrook Homes' Garrison Point. The multi-phase development will add five new condominium towers to a tract of land bound by GO Transit Georgetown South rail corridor to the north, Lakeshore rail corridor to the south, and Strachan Avenue to the west. Toronto's Planning Department refers to it as the Ordnance Triangle.
Consisting of four towers by Hariri Pontarini Architects, and a fifth by Chicago-based bKL Architecture, Garrison Point's towers will range in height between 24 and 39 storeys, and will offer a total of over 1,700 residential units as well as non-residential uses like retail and amenity spaces. Plenty of the latter will be included in the development's first phase, including offerings like a fitness centre, a party room, theatre room, and even a kid's lounge area, all designed and appointed by interior designers Munge Leung.
