For the third month in a row, the Barrie & District Association of Realtors says home sales activity has broken another record! To date, there have been 3360 residential properties sold through the Barrie board - an increase of 12.4% over the same period last year, and marking the best start to any year on record. President Bruce Shipley credits the increase to strong demand and tight supply which are combining to lead to sizeable price gains. The average price for all homes sold through the Barrie board to date was $366,291 - up 7.4% from the same time period in 2014. The overall dollar value of all home sales in July 2015 was up 15% from year ago levels. July also marked the first decline in new listings this year - down 8% from July 2014, and overall supply is at its lowest level in more than a decade - and the lowest level for any July on record. So, in summary, low interest rates combining with low supply is resulting in a great opportunity for both buyers and sellers as we head into what promises to be a busy fall market! Happy buying and selling!
