The view is a lot different now through the Friday Harbour site. Many of the trees have been cleared, and it could be that the actual construction is not far off. The Town of Innisfil has posted a notice in the local newspaper that at its council meeting being held tomorrow, Wednesday February 18th, 2015, it will consider a bylaw to remove the "Hold" symbol on Phase 1 and part of Phase 2 of the Friday Harbour development. These phases include the construction of underground services, the golf course, and resort residential units in the Marina Village. The removal of the "Hold" designation will not occur however, until the conditions to lift the "Hold are fulfilled.
In other news, residents are invited to come out and have their say about a potential medical marijuana facility in the town. The federal government has introduced new legislation that would require users of medical marijuana to access it from federally licensed medical marijuana production facilities. And so, the town is looking to restrict any such facility to areas that are zoned "Industrial General" and "Industrial Business Park". There are many other restrictions as well, such as being located a minimum of 70 metres away from community sensitive land such as schools and homes. The public meeting is being held Wednesday February 18th, 2015.
