Hello 2016!

The numbers are in for the month of January, and by all accounts, the Barrie & District Association says they set a record!  The number of sales within the City of Barrie rose almost 10% on a year-over-year basis.  President Mike Douglas says the month of January shows a solid start to the year - with activity beating both the 5 and 10 year averages for sales.  The average price was up also - more than 8% over January 2015.  The dollar value of all home sales was up more than 11% - marking the best January on record.  And there is expected to be more price growth this year - with the balance of supply and demand increasingly favouring sellers.  Supply is currently trending at the lowest levels on record, down more than 22% from year-ago levels.  So, despite new mortgage rules coming into play affecting properties over $500,000, interest rates are still incredibly low for buyers to take advantage of.  Happy buying and selling!
